The Hostetler Family Newsletter Hello, Hostetlers! Its that time of year again and the family reunion is right around the corner. In order to keep everyone up-to-date, weve decided to send out a family newsletter. This year the reunion will be held on July 1, 2000 at the Derry Township Community Park in Burnham, Pennsylvania. Due to the fact that the "Hostetler Reunion Fund" consisted of a mere $68 and the Belleville Mennonite School is now $285 instead of $100 (with the cost still rising every year), we decided to spend the day at this lovely park in Burnham. We have reserved a large pavilion, which will hold several hundred Hostetlers! The pavilion is located beside a creek and there is a very nice playground nearby for the children. This beautiful park also has a ball field and a walking path for those who need to burn off a few of those homemade pies after lunch! Our pavilion will be supplied with electricity and we also have the use of the large stone fireplace nearby. And you can bring your grills and lawnchairs, if you like. There will be signs posted throughout the park with "HOSTETLER" written on them. Just follow these signs and you should have no problem finding the rest of your family. The day will begin at 9 AM and end whenever you want it to!
There will also be a family picnic at the same place on the following day, which is Sunday, July 2. We will be eating leftovers, playing ball, eating some more, lounging around, eating again and walking off what we just ate over the last 2 days. So come down after church and visit with your family some more! This only happens once in two years! Due to the rising cost of the reunion each year, it was decided that a fundraiser might be a great way to keep any burden from falling on the family members in charge that year. This will allow money to be available for each reunion, year after year. No one person should beresponsible for the cost of this blessed event; rather the entire family should pitch in and help. So with that in mind, this year we will be holding a "Family Fun Auction"! Basically, this is where every family member brings an item to the reunion that they would like to "auction" off. These items can be homemade wall hangings, quilted potholders, wooden projects, cross-stitch, crochet... anything at all! You can also bring an item like a can of soup or a bag of pretzels. These items should be wrapped up and we will auction them off as gag gifts! We will have LOTS of fun with this and will be raising money for our family at the same time! We have already received some beautiful wooden projects for the auction from young John Hostetler in California. So put on your thinking caps and get your items ready for the "Family Fun Auction"!
In order to get the word out to everyone, please make copies of this newsletter and mail/hand it off to any other family members that you are in contact with. This is our best way of getting the word out and saving on postage. We are also mailing this to anyone with an email address so if you know another family members email address, please pass that along to us, as well. We will be sending out reminders in June. Its the year 2000! Lets all pull together and make this the best family reunion ever! Visit www.hostetler-family.com to see pictures of the 1998 reunion! Thanks from all of us!
